While driving in the van with my children, my daughters regularly ask, “Dad, can we turn on the radio.” Often I say “yes,” but at times, I say “no.”
“No?” they whine in frustration. “I know. You are enjoying the quiet.” They follow this with a dramatic sigh.
When was the last time you drove with the radio off and without talking on the cell phone? When was the last time you just sat in quietness for the purpose of practicing and enjoying God’s presence?
“Be still, and know that I am God!” (Psalm 46:10) God calls out to you today, inviting you to know him and enjoy him. So take some time to SHUT UP and do it! You will be glad you did.
Lord, in the midst of my busyness, I intentionally take the time to shut up and know that you are God. I choose right now to celebrate and acknowledge the gift of your presence with me. I sit quietly and soak in your presence….
Or maybe this will better prepare your heart! 🙂
