Father, today we pray over the hearts of our children and grandchildren.  We know that while their lives have been filled with many fun times and positive experiences, there were also events that have hurt their hearts and crushed their spirits.  Reckless words have wounded them.  Traumatic occurrences (like death, divorce and abandonment) have scarred them.  Broken relationships left them feeling rejected.  For some, the abusive actions of others have resulted in a tremendous burden of shame and self-contempt.

You, O Lord, are the God of all comfort, and we know that you long to heal our children and grandchildren. 

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

So do it, Lord!  Let your grace, mercy and everlasting love flood their hearts with healing.  We decree that the spirit of trauma that…
