Simply put…I have none. In the words of Paul,
“As for me, may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of that cross, my interest in this world has been crucified, and the world’s interest in me has also died…. What counts is whether we have been transformed into a new creation.” (Galatians 6:14-15)
Life is not all about me! Life is all about Christ in me, the hope of glory, the hope of the world. Thus, my interest is not in this world, but in the people of this world and their eternal destiny. Neither is my interest similar to that of a stakeholder, with a timeshare-like interest in this world. The claim I stake is in the kingdom of God where my true citizenship lies. Through the cross of Christ, I am a shareholder in his kingdom. Stock in his kingdom will never fall prey to a bear market.
Lord, may these not just be words. May this reality be a driving truth that motivates my actions. May I be in this world, but not of it. May I boast only in you, the cross and your resurrection! AMEN!
